Product Review: ELF Essentials Shadow Collection
So my hawt
Lets check out the swatches....first indication that this is an E.pic L.ooking F.ail (<<<---- :D :D :D )
the colours come out very faint and powdery/chalky. Powdery is NOT a good thing in a pressed shadow. The texture feels like cornstarch... smooth but weird :/ (I'm sorry that's the best I can describe it right now).
Ok so naturally like most cheaper shadows it needs a primer to hang on to.
I used the first two of the duo sets pictured above and did a quick look on each eye using the
confused brush/pencil that came with the set.
I'll just add here that personally I am not a fan of "double" brushes/things they just look confused to me..personal opinion!
The result!
Very muddy looking eyeshadow :/
While the pigment did come out better over a primed lid the product does not blend easily and goes on quite dull....and chalky. You can see that they appear splotchy in some places.
Even if you are trying to get beauty on a budget I wouldn't recommend this set of shadows, there are WAY more better drug store brands that you can check out.
What They Say:
Easy to blend formula that is crease resistant and long lasting. Each gorgeous shade can be worn alone or together for a dramatic effect
Sajville's population says no not really...no.

Product Review: Top Three Drugstore Mascaras
It's the battle of the Volume!...NO! The Battle of Length!.......no? ..Okay just a mascara comparison then :)
Here are the Top Three Drugstore Mascaras that have a rightful place in Sajville!
________________________________________________
________________________________________________
Maybelline Great Lash Mascara
One of the industry's faves! The Blackest Black is truly the blackest mascara out there! Perfect for use with falsies and it will blend your lashes into the false lash seamlessly!
"AMERICA'S FAVORITE MASCARA
BIGGER BRUSH, BIGGER LASHES
CONDITIONS AS IT THICKENS "
![]() |
| Lashes were not combed after mascara application to show true results right out of the tube 2 Coats Applied |
Personally I love it! I really do, its a staple in my kit, both personal and professional. So whats the rating you ask?

________________________________________________
Maybelline Lash Stiletto
This seems to have a similar formula to Great Lash but with a skinnier brush judging from the application on my lashes, I can tell that it does lengthen short lashes nicely. It does make lashes a bit spiky/spidery which is fine if you like that look.
What They Say:
"DOES FOR LASHES WHAT STILETTOS DO FOR LEGS
STRETCHES LASHES for provocative length
70% LONGER LASHES, shiny patent finish"
![]() | |
|
My view? I like it for the patent shine but I won't be giving up Great Lash for it.
Application Tip:
-As I mentioned this gets lashes really spiky, to create a fuller lash look, use your brow BRUSH and brush the lashes in the same motions used to apply the mascara.
Lash Stilettos spot on the Sajie scale?

Loreal Voluminous Mascara
This mascara is popping up in pro kits everywhere, I've honestly never tried it before this review and lets just say...It will be popping up in my kit! I absolutely love love love this mascara length AND volume with a perfect "mid" sized brush..not to big not to small, and the result is just gorgeous lashes.
What They Say:
"Voluminous Original Volume Building Mascara is uniquely formulated to build lashes to 5x their natural thickness, for a full and dramatic lash look. The Volume Maximizing Brush thickens lashes evenly and smoothly leaving them soft with virtually no flakes, smudges or clumps."

My New Kit
So I've FINALLYYYYY gotten my new kit after years of debating what type of kit to get.
I'm not a fan of pouch based kits and I always go for "work station" type kits. So I made the decision to get this baby! I call it the Smack Truck ^_^
IT'S HUGE!!!! Way bigger than I expected and that worried me a bit when I took it out the box but after packing it LOVE LOVE LOVEEEE!
Ok so this is what i've been using since my move, my Set bag carrying all the palettes and a big drawstring bag carrying skin stuff etc, basically all the "bottles" and hair supplies
Just an idea of Some of the things in the pink set back and duffle bag.
![]() |
| THE SMACK TRUCK!!!!!!!!! |
![]() |
| Open drawers with Skin prep, lash tools and lip products. |
![]() |
| So I didn't like the colours of the drawers so I decorated them with my fave assistant. Kittehhh!!!!! |
-Holds EVERYTHING AND I still have tonns more room, and for someone that does both hair and makeup this is big!
-Everything is so compact and tidy! sometimes things get a bit crazy on my table while on set and I've used this officially TWICE so far and I barely had makeup on the table.
-Sturdy, on its first trip out hubby didn't set it properly on the back seat and it rolled 360 and crashed into the door...*flatline* *didnt speak to him the rest of the drive* When I got there I opened it up scared to find a mess of broken shadows and NOTHING BUDGED! EVERY STINGLE ITEM WAS EXACTLY IN PLACE! *swoonnn* #luckyhubby.
- Pull wheels making for easy travel and the wheels have this material on them some sort of rubber thats awesome because when I put it on top of a table it doesn't roll.
_ Drawers are removable if you need more space for brush rolls or belts etc, My brush pouches fit right on top. But i prob will find a way to repack to remove one drawer to fit my hot irons in that space.
Cons:
-While its great that it holds everything it does make the kit heavy since all the weight is in one as opposed to being distributed. Stairs will make me sweat with this baby lol
- I don't think it can be used as carry on for a flight havent tried it yet but I'm pretty sure its to big so thats a downside. *I will update when I take it on my next trip*
- The colour of the drawers meh..i wish it was just all clear or all black.

Fandangle!!!
Fashion Show Post #2.0 :D ( so corny i love it)
As I mentioned there was a Go Green Designer challenge where each featured designer was asked to created a piece using recyclable materials. So along with my segment which I also decided to "Go Green" with.... I created this little number called "FANDANGLE"
LOLZ
It was a hot mess of madness as per usual, I just knew that I wanted a little wire skirt and from there with the help of my mom we brainstormed the rest of the outfit. We wanted to keep it with wire and plastic but felt that there needed to be another tough of metal and we couldn't figure out what to use..and right outside our studio in the trash were fan cages....... EUREKA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ( we grabbed the fan blades too and gave those to Addison for Geneis Vers 2.0 ) :)
We redesigned the top to make it more Adurey Hepburn-esque The Raaaiinnnn in Spaaaiinnn....
and ended up with the finished project which I absolutely loved hehe
The rundown:
Hat: Fan Cage
Wire Skirt: Wire mesh, trimmed with plastic bags, chain hardware, and a plastic table cloth train
Shirred Skirt: Plastic bag
Ankle Jewelry: Clear Bead Spikes ( had to do somethin with the shoes u kno me ;) )
Belt: Cd Shards with Plastic bag center
The back of the top says "100% recyclable Thank you have a nice day" from a shopping plastic bag
GO GREEN! IT'S MAD FUN!
xoxo

Genesis Version 2.0 and the story behind the madness ;)
On Sunday I was featured as a designer once again in the annual Fashion Show put on for our local Homecoming Independence celebrations. This year the show was dubbed "Pappy Show" and included a Go Green Designer Challenge.
Enter Saj.....(lol) Hearing the Go Green theme I took it and ran like the windBullseye!!!!! and all I saw was cling wrap futuristic fembots in my mind :D ....Enter stage left...Genesis Vers. 2.0.
The Story of Genesis Vers. 2.0 was one of "our" future. We humans with our advancements brought on an early man-made "Judgement Day" and the world was destroyed...few survived. The strongest of the survivors were 5 women with a plan to begin the rebirth of the human race.
With their skin covered in protective wrappings they went out on a mission to find a strong male survivor to begin the rebirth.Man child!!!!
WHOA! lol seriously this is what goes on in my head with projects, they are ALWAYS accompanied by a story.
The models Nailah Liverpool, Kimberly Ephraim, Larissa James, Kamesha Joseph, Crystal Robinson and Addison George are the most amazing people in the world right now to bring this story to life. You guys gave me goose bumps backstage! OuT.Of.StOcK!!!!!!!!!!! It wasn't easy being in cling wrap for hours..thank you so much for being troopers!!!! and MAJOR.FIERCE.
Materials Used were Cling wrap, coloured tape, fan blades, chains
Genesis Vers 2.0 Will be placed high on the shelf that is Sajville

Thanks also to Vanda Neal Gardner and Richard Young for allowing the madness on stage :)
